NYBA (RYUSHIN SHOUCHI RYU, NYBA KYUDO, and PRATT IAIDO CLUB) is proud to be marching again in the 2023 JAPAN DAY PARADE – this ultimately leads to the Japan Day in Central Park, which was founded to build and strengthen the appreciation and awareness of cultural understanding between the local Japanese communities and New York City.

JAPAN PARADE (Saturday, May 13, 2023)

Opening Ceremony starts at 12:30 p.m.

Location: Central Park West between 70th street and 71st street (Grandstand Area).

Japan Parade starts at 1:00 p.m.

Route: Central Park West from 81st street to 67th street

CHANGING ROOM – will be at the church on 84th St. between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West near the formation area where everyone will be waiting.

The Church of St. Matthew & St. Timothy* – 26 West 84th St. between Columbus Ave. & CPW

*  The time slot for your group is from 11:00AM ~ 11:30AM After 11:30am, other groups are scheduled to use the spaces. So, please arrive there on time, and clear out by 11:30am.

KEY POINTS FOR CHANGING ROOM USE:

・The meeting time for the parade is scheduled to be 1.5 hours before everyone's departure time, but if you use the changing room, you will be asked to arrive about 30 minutes earlier than the meeting time.

・After the parade ends, you need to go from the end of the parade on 68th Street to the church on 84th Street to pick up your luggage by 4:30 .

Lastly, to avoid crowds at the changing areas, we will contact groups who wish to use the changing areas at a later date with details such as available times (depending on the departure time of the parade) – NYBA CHANGING TIME IS 11 – 11:30 AM other groups are scheduled to use the spaces. So, please arrive there on time, and clear out by 11:30am.

• You can tell the JD staff your group name at the front door to get in the church once you arrive there.

• There are changing rooms for men and women. Please follow the signs on the walls to the rooms once you enter the church.

• If you wish to check your clothing or luggage, please keep it to as minimal as possible.  Our staff will give the leader of a group one box to hold everybody's belongings. The leader can collect all of the stuff from your group, put them in the box, and check it in at the check in counter on the 1st floor.

• This check-in counter has the same system as a coat check at the restaurants or concert halls.Once the leader of the group checks the box at the counter,our staff will give you a ticket with a number.When you'd like to get your box back after marching is done, the leader can exchange the ticket with the box.

*  Please remember: Japan Parade and our staff are NOT responsible for your lost belongings in the changing rooms. Please tell all members of your group that DO NOT leave any valuables in the church. The box will  be picked up until 4:30 pm The church closes at 5:00 pm
